3 months later . . .

Way too tired tonight for a regular post and work has been moving ahead hard and fast and I’ve barely had time to sit down and catch my brain to make a reasonable post.  I will be doing that this weekend as I have a couple of great ideas in my head that need to materialize into posts.  I also need to sit down and comment all of your blogs as I’ve been neglecting that as well.  I’m just hyper-focusing on work right now and I need to take a breath.

However, I did want to stop in tonight and let everyone that has been following along know . . .

The Florida DMV gave me a birthday present!  I guess someone let them know that the 24th is my birthday, so today I got to come home with an actual fucking tag!  Yep, that’s right.  A bonaFIDE Florida resident.  Ya know, now that I have given them 37 different notarized forms, signatures from my entire family (that were entirely NOT forged ever in life, EVER) and about a weeks paycheck.  I got to home with real, metal, convict produced license tags.

Don’t get too excited yet.  My tag has regular numbers and letters on it just like the average Joe, but somewhere in the next 30 to 60 days my tag that reads exactly as shown above will arrive in the mail.  I figured for all the shit I went through to get the damn things, they were damn sure going to be personalized, so I did that paperwork while I was there too.

So happy birthday to me.

And this shows just how old I’m getting that THIS is what I’m excited about.

Oh well.  See ya’s this weekend!!

Some DMV Success – I know, it sounds like an oxymoron to me too

I took a couple days off from writing.  I probably needed the break.

More importantly, you probably needed the break.

So I did a whole bunch of nothing on Sunday and Monday we went to a new friends house for some Labor Day barbecuin’.  Well, new friends to me – Liz has known them forever.  Now we have a fridge full of leftover chicken, ribs, sausage, potato salad and some other stuff.  I think we’re good in the food department for a few days.

Then there was today.  It started kind of early, but I had ALL of my shit together to go to the DMV and (fingers crossed) get that much sought after 10 day tag.  I carefully went through my stack of paperwork to make sure everything was in order and caught a ride over to the office. “Like a fucking angel but with curse words and prescription drugs”

Yep, that’s me!

Quite possibly the greatest compliment I’ve ever received since starting this blog ever.  Left to me in a comment yesterday by the yet another new woman I am in love with, @RavingPleb at, of course, The Raving Pleb.  I was so touched I had to Tweet it immediately . . . and post it on both my personal Facebook page and the Opticynicism Facebook page.  It was so fucking beautiful, I just had to make it the title of tonight’s post, because aside from still being a relatively boring day yet again, things actually kinda went ok for me today.  So to start the day with that compliment, it simply gave a little foreshadowing to the rest of the day. Save me some time and combine the misery

This isn't too far off of my mindset right now.
This isn’t too far off of my mindset right now.

Now that things seem to be settling down a little bit, at least with the website at least, I’m gonna try to get back to the funneh.  So let me tell you a little bit about the experiences I’ve been going through since my arrival in Florida.

First things first, let me express my gratitude to my great friend Liz who has provided me with a roof over my head, food and invaluable assistance in making my way through the VA system.

A system which is neither efficient nor quick.  It also lacks any semblance of common fucking sense.  You see, I’m going through them to get my treatment for depression, my vision (or lack thereof) and some anxiety (both pre-existing and actually being caused by the system and the Florida DMV) and my otherwise general health.
